Pastors

Russell is passionate about the role of the church being a redemptive community, where everyone finds a place of acceptance and belonging. He spearheaded the replanting of Sylvia Park Chapel, as it was, into Mt Wellington Community Church.  Russell has a rich history of leadership in youth groups, mission agencies, theological institutions, state school boards and churches.  He trained as an electrician and was a sales manager before becoming the pastor at MWCC back in 1996.

Phil and his family have lived in Mt Wellington since 2008 and have been part of the Mt Wellington Community Church whānau since 2011.  Phil enjoys the way that MWCC seeks to empower everyone to live out their faith and to both experience and share the extraordinary love of God.  He has a particular passion for studying and teaching the Bible, as well as supporting others to do that for themselves.

Max and his whānau have lived in Mt Wellington since 2008, but have been part of the MWCC whānau since 2003. For nearly 30 years, Max has been involved in this community in various capacities. He has a passion for encouraging and supporting people to live out their relationship with Jesus Christ day by day. Max is also involved in governance for schools, sport and mission organisations. He is a carpenter by trade, a social worker by profession, and a pastor by choice.
