I had the most wonderful thing happen to me this week.
I was at the hospital waiting to see the surgeon for my 2 week, post-surgery, check and while I was waiting I got a phone call. A random phone call. Because of the noise in the waiting area at Greenlane I could not hear the guy who was ringing me properly, but he said something about gutters at church. I thought he was trying to sell me something so I told him I would ring him back.
After I got home from the hospital I rang him. His name is Johann and he is a Christian man who lives local to us here (I am not sure where) and he has been to our church for a public meeting that was held here a year or two ago. (He goes to a church in Howick somewhere.)
Anyway - he noticed our gutters are growing a nice crop of grass (because they are totally gunked up) and he and his son came around last week to clean them for us. His ladder could not reach so he rang me and asked me to get a contractor in (which I have done and he is coming this week) and he will pay the bill.
That is amazing and whilst it is not a huge amount it is extremely generous and a wonderful blessing and encouragement to us.
My parents had a saying "You cannot out-give God". Meaning what you invest in His Kingdom will be returned - in some way. As a Church and Trust we give lots to the community - not in anticipation of a reward, but because we believe it is what God asks of us. But this time God has blessed us with a gift out of the blue and a real encouragement. What are you doing to bless people?
Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you. Luke 6:37 & 38
