Camp was presented to Nick and I as a time to learn about the MWCC community. Despite the ordeal we endured getting to camp (including tears, stiff necks and a car that has been written off) we arrived to the welcoming arms of our community with a sense of peace. This peace carried us through the weekend, during a time that could have been full of anxiety and stress. In the arms of our new community, I would like to share one of the gems that we found by spending time with our home away from home.
At breakfast on Sunday morning, we were talking to the Grainger's about their son and how he had a trial for the Olympics that day. It sparked a conversation about an appropriate Bible verse to send, and in no time, suggestions were made and appropriateness discussed. One verse that stood out was 2 Corinthians 12:9:
'But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses so that Christ's power may rest on me.'
Even though the sentiment in this case was meant for physical strength, it hit home also for all of the other types of strength God gives us through His grace; wisdom, peace, patience, kindness etc (I'm sure there is a list somewhere ;p).
As many of you may know by now, Nick and I are expecting our first child, and while a happy time, it has also been a time of admitting weakness and the need for strength outside of ourselves. We are lacking in knowledge, experience, physical energy and at times emotional stability, which has opened our eyes to the need for others and a need for a relationship with our God.
2 Corinthians 12:10
'That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.'
