For we are co-workers in God's service
1 Corinthians 3:6-9
I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God's service; you are God's field, God's building.
My wife and I were out walking one evening when we walked past a guy trying to fix a flat tyre on his motorbike with a bicycle tyre lever. I could see he was never going to be able to do it with the tools he had and it was after hours for the tyre shop, so I asked if I could help. He gladly accepted, so I went home to get some tools and came back to help fix the puncture. As we were fixing the tyre it came out that we were training to be pastors and he just laughed. The reason he laughed was that he had just been saying to his partner, "God must hate him." He had not been to church in a long time and felt that God did not love him, especially in his current situation. So it was awesome to be able to tell him that God did love him and had brought us into his life to tell him that. I had never met him before and I will probably never meet him again but God had us there to help him to see how much God loves us all.
We often don't know how our actions will affect the people that God brings into our lives, but as we faithfully share to love of God with those we meet, God uses that for his glory.
