"I didn't choose the skux life, the skux life chose me" said Ricky Baker of 'Hunt for the Wilderpeople'. I agree with him. The life I have in Christ is skuxx (with two! exes).
It was Father's Day recently, just last week in fact. I was thinking how lucky/blessed/privileged that Christ adopted me into his family. For me that invitation came via a family whom for generations has been inviting each new generation into life with Christ. For others of you that invitation came via a different route. It could have been an invitation to MWCC, or someone sharing God's love in a practical way in your time of need. Yet others would wrestle with the choice for a time before accepting.
I think the route via which my invitation came suited my personality type; what about you? With enough time to reflect I've found it harder to doubt God's goodness in the way he drew me to him, and impossible to attribute any share in my adoption to my own efforts.
As we celebrated what an earthly father does for his children, so I also celebrate what God has done for us.
I believe that no matter which route you took to arrive in God's family, when it comes down to it… "it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." Eph 2:8-9
