Last week John and I had a holiday in Wanaka. From the moment we stepped off the plane in Queenstown we were awed by the beautiful scenery. The majestic mountains, to the blue of the lakes, to the crisp clear mountain streams and rivers. We were both blown away by the beauty of the landscape. No wonder people come from far and wide to see the beautiful country we live in.
Whenever I see a beautiful scenery I am reminded of the Psalms.
David was good at describing God's works and His splendour. Psalm 8
"O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the
You have set your glory above the heavens." "When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honour."
But what about when things are not so good and we are struggling. Again David went through some difficult times and he poured out his heart to God. Psalm 142 is one that describes David's despair. But in his desperation He is able to cry out to God and acknowledge that God is his refuge.
My encouragement to all of us is don't' give up. God is indeed our refuge. Let us also glorify Him for He is our God majestic and mighty.
