The other day I heard the 1990s hit song "Nothing Compares 2 U" (sung by Sinead O'Connor) on the radio. The lyrics include…

Since you been gone I can do whatever I want, I can see whomever I choose, I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant, but nothing, I said nothing can take away these blues, 'cause nothing compares, nothing compares to you… I went to the doctor and guess what he told me? Guess what he told me? He said girl you better try to have fun, no matter what you do, but he's a fool, 'cause nothing compares, nothing compares to you

As I listened I reflected on the heartache of this song and the longing for someone who no-one and nothing else can quite replace or live up to. It reminded me of someone who really is without equal.

There is none like You, no one else can touch my heart like You do, I could search for all eternity long, and find there is none like You

Those lyrics are from the classic worship song "There is None Like You". Imagine searching for all eternity - and coming up with no-one who's even in the ballpark of being as wonderful as Him. Here's how the Holy Spirit inspired Jeremiah to put it (Jeremiah 10:6-7):

Lord, there is no one like you!
For you are great, and your name is full of power.
Who would not fear you, O King of nations?
That title belongs to you alone!
Among all the wise people of the earth and in all the kingdoms of the world, there is no one like you.

As we enter Thy Kingdom Come and spend some more time praying together, let's remember to pray prayers of praise. Because no-one and nothing compares to our God.
