Last Sunday I was approached and told that there are 3 young men wanting to get baptised. What an incredible way to start 2019.
Baptism is something that God has commanded his followers to do. On the face of it, it is quite weird really. Being immersed in water - what's with that? It is a sacrament - an earthly symbol of a heavenly reality. Going under the water symbolises being washed clean (what happens when we accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour). In the act of going under the water we identify with the burial and resurrection of Jesus - we have died to self and we are now living for Christ. It also signifies that the old has gone and the new has come. And it is a very public demonstration of allegiance to Christ.
If you or someone you know is thinking about being baptised then please let me know. Phil has written a short course that is outstanding and we highly recommend that someone that is thinking about getting baptised go through the course.
The baptisms will be held on Sunday March the 3rd as part of our normal service. Woohoo!!
