20 years. That is a long time. Longer than two of my kids have been alive - and when you think about it like that, 20 years is a very long time. When I think back to what technology was then - I remember dial-up modems, waiting for the right noises to happen so you could connect to the internet and cellular phones that only had the ability to make calls. No smartphones, no GPS, no web browser, no nothing lol. Our three bedroom house with a two bed granny flat attached, on a full sized 1100sq section, cost $235,000.00. Things sure have changed.
But 20 years ago some things were the same as they are now. Things like broken families, dysfunctional people in dysfunctional relationships and many without hope. Things like the answer being in Jesus. Things like people wanting a place to belong where they don't need to wear masks to be accepted.
Our building has changed (some) and we have changed (lots) but God remains true and faithful and Jesus is seated at God's right hand, his job done. The Holy Spirit is here indwelling each of us - building His Church. We have witnessed God do amazing things miraculously and, through his people over the years, we look forward, with eager anticipation, to Him continuing to do so.
When we started we were given three verses and one of them was Mark 10:27; 'With God all things are possible'. What a wonderful statement and so very true. When we look back over 20 years we have seen the impossible be made possible. Lives have been changed, families reconciled and restored, relationships repaired. We have seen our asset base grow and the ministry to our community increase and all because it was 'with God'.
Today is a day of praise and thanksgiving to a loving, creative God. What a blessed day, and I want to personally say a huge thank you to all of you. My life is richer and better than I could have ever imagined because of you. My family, my church - I am truly blessed.
